Detention Officer

The Logan County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for Detention Officers. You must be willing to work any shift, be a team player, and be honest and dependable. Detention Officers are responsible for the care, treatment, custody, and control of inmates housed in our 100-bed Logan County Detention Center and they care for and maintain the facility. Detention Officers follow all Arkansas State Jail Standards while providing a safe and secure environment for all inmates and staff and are supervised by Detention Sergeants. Detention Officers complete a 56-hour Jailer Course taught at our facility that includes Jail Standards regulations, defensive tactics, handcuffing techniques, constitutional law, de-escalation and dealing with inmates, TASER and O.C. spray certifications, and other subjects. Detention Officers also must complete a field training officer program.
 
In order to be a Detention Officer, you must be 18-years of age or older, have a valid driver's license, have no criminal history, and have a high school diploma or GED. Pay is $33,222.00 to $38,714.00 per year with the pay increase for years of service, experience, certificates, and/or education.  Benefits including state retirement and paid insurance for the employee. Family health plans and visual and dental insurance are available for added cost. For over-time work, you can receive paid over-time or comp time. Detentions officer work 12-hour shifts with every other weekend off (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Uniforms and equipment are provided. Firearms training is available to those 21-years of age or older. Part-Time Detention Officers receive $11.00 to $14.00 per hour.
